The Camellia Flower

Floweristic :: Specific-Flowers

The state flower of Alabama is the Camellia and is very beautiful to behold. The Camellia is rather easy to grow and to maintain as long as you water it often. This type of flower requires a good deal of moistures and does not live long during periods of droughts.

The Camellia compliments many floral arrangements and comes in a variety of hues. It makes a great decorative bloom that will brighten any flower garden or landscape if you take proper of it.

If you are growing your own Camellias outdoors you will want to apply fertilizer in regular intervals and it is best to begin pruning in the winter or early spring to make sure that you will see the best results in terms of petals and buds. The peak of the blooming is in the beginning of the year from mid January to mid February. The Camellia will live in cold temperatures but will suffer damage to the buds if exposed to temperatures below 30 degrees.

There are thousands of varieties of Camellia flowers and many of these are available in nurseries in the United States. With so many varieties of the Camellia you are sure to find a specific flower to suit your needs.
